EMDR

What is EMDR?

"The aim of EMDR treatment is to achieve the most profound and comprehensive treatment effects in the shortest amount of time." -from the EMDRIA Association's definition.

"A study comparing the effectiveness of Prozac with EMDR showed that EMDR was more successful than Prozac in some cases in achieving substantial and sustained reductoins in anxiety and depression." - Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, January 2007.

"EMDR is a significant component of treatment at the Meninger Clinic." - Bulletin of the Menenger Clinic.

The speed at which change occurs during EMDR contradicts the traditional notion of time essential for psychological healing. EMDR's integrated elements are utilized from many schools of psychotherapy into its protocol making EMDR applicable for a variety of clinical populations." - Bessel A. van der Kolk, MD, Boston University School of Medicine.

My goal for you is to help you achieve the result you want quickly, easily, and safely as possible and to make sure that results "stick" as permanently as possible. The methods I use for this are based on the most recent development in neuroscience, which is expanding our knowledge and understanding of performance.

If you are interested in this protocol, I have a handout available at your first session that provides the easiest ways to explain what I do and how I do it with answers to a series of most frequently asked questions:

"Why has psychological treatment even with drugs always been such a lengthy process and not always ending up working as well as I thought it should?"

"So what would be causing those parts of my brain to have too much or too little activity going on?"

"Can't I just take drugs to correct my brain chemistry?"

"Ok, so what other option do I have?"

"Is EMDR like hypnosis and, if not, how does it work so efficiently?"

"How well researched and scientifically proven is EMDR?

"Is EMDR right for me?" Please visit www.SanDiegoEMDR.com for a screening survey and more information.
